Around the Borough of Queens

The "Around Queens" page provides links and information about events and places of interest throughout Queens.

Public Parks in Queens, New York, have it all from hiking and bird-watching in Jamaica Bay, golfing at Forest Park, strolling the grounds of the World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, to seeing lovely trees and flowers at the Queens Botanical Gardens.  Click on "Green Spaces in Queens," the  "New York Parks Website," or "Golfing in Queens" to find all that these parks and green havens have to offer its many New York City residents.

The Queens County Farm Museum's history dates back to 1697 and it occupies New York City's largest remaining tract of undisturbed farmland.  Make plans to visit the only working historical farm in the City.

From 7am to 9am daily, you can take your dog(s) to the Upper Alley Pond Park Picnic Field #12 (off Winchester Blvd) and let your dogs run without a leash. There are always plenty of other dogs and friendly pet owners, as well as a dog's club you can join at the Alley Pond Park Dog Run

The Queens County Bird Club consists of people who are participants in the second largest hobby in the United States.  Although birding is the first and prime interest of this friendly group, ecology and related matters that concern our area are also matters that are discussed at their monthly meetings.  Meetings take place at the Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), which is located at 228-06 Northern Boulevard, Douglaston, NY 11362.  The meetings are held at 8:00 PM on the  third Wednesday of each month. Guests are invited to attend meetings and bird walks and both are free of charge.  More information about this club can be obtained by emailing Ian at This email address is being protected from spambots.
